And not exactly liking the thought that bit.ly(s.c9c.in) might render previously shortened URLs useless in case I didn't renew the domain. I am not completely sure if that's how it works, but just wasn't ready to take the risk.

Installed WordPress.org on http://ManveetSingh.com/wordpress. Yes! I wanted a domain for myself as a personal place, but was simply too excited to try out the WordPress install since Day 1 of buying it on the night of December 30, 2010. I got around to the install on December 07, 2011. What a time lag! :P

There were some financials that needed to be worked out ever since a trip to Bengaluru in October 2011 for SAP TechEd Bangalore 2011. Finally the calculations have been done, sums receivable have been defined, snapshot of Pages'08 taken, and mailed to paying parties, and now only payments are left to be received. Thats expected to happen only after the examinations though.

Last year, in December out semester examinations were a bit later than this time. But that was the time that I got the best deal I had seen on a domain name.

I bought http://ManveetSingh.com ₹75/- only in the midst of my 1st semester examinations. The cheapest you can get ;) at least in 2010!

I won a New Year's competition by a new Domain & Hosting provider, which entitled me to a .in domain and hosting for a year. And that competition lead to more business - money flowing from my end to his end - and relationship building.

P. S. Looking for suggestions here. I think I would like to move YOURLS install from a subdirectory to the root directory for directly using as http://22g.in Should I?

P. P. S. I am not sure if I want the WordPress install at a WordPress subdirectory either. It is a temporary place for install for sure, but thinking if I should move it to root OR another subdirectory? I sure don't want a directory like "blog", looking for an innovative-creative name! Even weird would do! :) I came up with 'recordings', but that sounds like a vocal record ;) Not my piece of cake any day!

Related articles

Creating a Customized URL Shortener with YOURLS (speedofcreativity.org)

Yourls (ideasandthoughts.org)

HostGator WordPress Install Guides and Videos Now Available at WP Hosting Reviews (prweb.com)

HACKED! Me, having tasted US of A, wanted to get back to the outer-India world. I asked him, and he gave me the details. He was a part of AIESEC. A member of AIESEC's DU Chapter.

I told him, I wanted to go too. The interview was good. They were OK with me being a part of AIESEC.

Then they told me the fees part of it. Fees to go for Internship. I mean I expected that I would have to go on my own, living expenses even might have been my own. But for the process, it was unexpected.

However great AIESEC was, (and is) but we hadnt heard of it. Neither my father knew, nor did I. Though I haven't tied my beard, never technically anyways - haven't used a product or such, other than once or twice in beard's formative years, but recently there has been pressure from family to tie it up for family function! What I don't understand is, if I can keep it open for the outside non-family world, why do I need to worry when with family! Just FYI, I tie my beard with a 'thatha' just after a bath, gives it a sort-of-tidier look than a completely open one!

My beard is a part of me, it is part of my identity and it is a part of my uniqueness, it connects me to something so special. It is a prevalent part of my face, in fact between the beard and turban I am just a set of eyeballs and nose! I belong to something greater than just trying to look great for society; I am trying to look my best for something better something higher and something that means much more than this. My entire image belongs to something else, it is not mine, what a dent to an ego that is, when you fail to be able to even have your own image

I have been trying to explain it to my family that

Tying a beard properly takes time and effort; it also takes a lot of patience as anyone who has styled hair knows that every day is different. Depending on the humidity or other factors each day was/is a challenge
also when I travel to Gurgaon (1 hour each side with my face covered) my beard seems to be quite set, because of the hot air; and even if I consider the same time frame but in AC (car or metro) it's not going to be same! They think & hope that I will understand their argument with time; its been, what, some 8 years of time now :) And I keep on hoping that they will be OK with my non-argument on the same!Manveet Singhhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02064065477252782221noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4031514095996140476.post-28441050448307509292011-04-16T16:07:00.036+05:302011-04-16T16:21:02.980+05:30Charlie Chaplin's Lights, camera, doodle! | Official Google Blog

Official Google Blog: Lights, camera, doodle!
It probably is totally made up but might have totally happened. The characters could be:
int = interviewer and mei - me , but it could be anything otherwise also.
Relation of the story to anybody anywhere possession anything is purely coincidental, but maybe it’s not, I can’t say for sure :P

P.S. The parts inside ** pair is the thought process, generally of ‘mei’. Any doubts , ask me :)

int - since you are an engineer, you would have studied maths, right!
mei - o yes!
int - So you would know what integration and differentiation is?
mei - Yes I do!
int - Good! So tell me what is the relation between integration and differentiation?
mei - *aisa b kucch hota hai kya* I am not sure what you are getting at?
int - You know integration, and you know differentiation, so what is the relation between them?
mei - I am not sure I know it! And I am not even sure if I have even ever heard of them having any relationship *:P*
int - Ok! Then tell me what differentiation is?
mei - You mean as in the definition of differentiation?
int - Yes!
mei - I know the application of differentiation, and I can tell you that, but I don’t know the definition of it.

int - Ok then, tell me what is differential of cosine(2x)?
mei - *I didn’t hear the question properly and said* sine(x).
int - Are you sure?
mei - Ya! I think it is sine(x).
mei - Wait!! Did you ask for differential of cos(2x)?
int - Yes, I want differential of cosine(2x)
mei - O! I heard cosine(x) earlier. I can think of finding differential of cosine(x), but I can’t even imagine myself thinking of trying to calculate differential of cosine(2x).

int - There has been a Supreme Court judgement passed in a dispute between Ambani’s, do you know what it is?
mei - I know what the issue was, not the judgement.
int - Were you not there when the earlier candidates were discussing the questions?
*He had heard us all discussing questions asked from the 1st interviewee loud and clear*
*I said something something and took him away from that topic*
mei - I don’t know about the judgement passed but I know somewhat what has happened. What happened is that the brothers had decided on price of a commodity that one will be charging to other at the time of division of companies.
int - What commodity?
mei - Gas from a particular basin. Earlier they had decided that Anil would be giving it at some fixed rate to Mukesh, but now Anil is asking a higher price for it.
int - Who had to give gas to whom?
mei - Anil had to give it to Mukesh.
*messed it up big time here, it was the other way around. I had been warned against being specific with names and all if I didn’t know it, but still I had to utter those name and *
mei – You don’t read newspaper , do you ?
int - No not frequently :)Manveet affected by an insect affectionately called 'printer' :

printers printers everywhere...!
when i thought they wont be anywhere near,
one of them comes in clear!

*special mention to Gautam Anand for his status update on printers :P*

P.S. no intention of hurting anyone's sentiments by this poem. But as far as I know , no one is emotionally attached with 'printers', for if I remember correctly, the attitude towards them is "Kill them when you see them!"
